Hurricane Irene was a powerful hurricane that swept over the Carribean and the east coast of the US and Canada in late August 2011. It caused major destruction and at least 56 deaths. In the Carribean, there were $3.1 billion of repairs, and in the US, the damage was up to $10 - $15 billion.
