This is a picture of an Oxbow Lake. Oxbow Lakes are formed from meanders that are cut off from the main channel, creating an Oxbow Lake. Oxbow Lakes are found in mature rivers and are U-shaped. Eventually they dry up, and turn into a scar in the landscape.
