Cirques are small bowl shaped features found in mountains formed from glacial erosion. Cirques are formed when frost shattering plucks pieces of debris off the side of the mountain, and the pieces of debris fall down. The pieces of debris undergo freeze-thaw and erode agaisnt the lower rock, eventually making a small bowl in the side of the mountain that fills up with snow this is known as a Cirque.
