This is a tarn lake. This depression in the ground was a cirque that has now been filled with water making it a cirque or tarn lake. Cirques are formed by glaciation erosion on a mountain and are found on the sides of pyrimental peaks or horns. A tarn lake is an alpine glaciation feature.
